Stop the demolition of Sinjeur Semeijnsstraat!
Preserve affordable housing, green space, and our community
Stop the demolition of our homes in Bos en Lommer!
Housing corporation Rochdale wants to demolish our beloved complex on Sinjeur Semeijnsstraat and Schaapherderstraat. That means 220 affordable homes will disappear, along with our inner gardens, trees, and the close bonds between neighbors. This plan is bad for residents, bad for the neighborhood, and bad for the city.
Why this plan must stop:
Unlivable new construction
Rochdale wants to build housing blocks right next to the A10. With fine dust, noise, and unhealthy air right outside your window.
Green space disappears
Dozens of old trees and our unique inner gardens will be lost. The fresh, green heart of the neighborhood will disappear.
Unaffordable rents
Affordable homes will be replaced by expensive new housing. Many current residents will no longer be able to live here.
Uncertainty and no real right of return
Residents don’t know if they’ll ever be able to return – even though the city has promised this.
Loss of community
Many residents have lived here together for decades. This social cohesion will be irreparably lost.
